Verner has 20 years' experience in strategic development communication. His career kicked off in 1991 by pioneering communication with UNICEF to develop HIV strategies for behaviour change. He joined the Danish Foreign Service in 1995 and has managed development policy, Africa, NGO support and EU policy. Diplomatic postings to Germany 1998-99 and the UK 1999-2003. Joining private sector in 2004, his experience expanded to corporate management and global HR for Danish Industries (DI). Management responsibilities with frontrunner media house Monday Morning included the Innovation Council and Innovation Cup – an ambitious venture using web-based questionnaires combined with site visits to celebrate Denmark's most innovative companies.
With an MA in Communication and International Development from Roskilde University (1992), his linguistic research at Birkbeck (University of London 2001) includes code-switching by Danes in London.
